I welcome Council's decision to establish the role of Honorary Recorder of the City and District of St Albans. St Albans Mayor, Councillor Anthony Rowlands, initiated the creation of the new position. It is intended that the new role will encourage a better understanding of the judicial system among the community and confirm St Albans as a major centre for the legal profession.Ĭouncillors agreed to her appointment at a meeting of the Full Council on Wednesday 6 December.Īs the Honorary Recorder, Judge Wood will be invited to attend civic functions and will invite Councillors to judicial events.Ī ceremony to mark her appointment will be held at St Albans Crown Court early next year. Her Honour Judge Lana Wood, who is the Resident Judge at St Albans Crown Court, will take up the unpaid, ceremonial position.
